The Minos system was activated in March through to May accross five sections of the UK motorway network; the M2, M5, M4 & M27 based on the Highways Agency policy in carbon reduction and energy savings, they will be switching off the motoway lighting between 12:00 midnight and 5:00am.
The system installed is Remco Systems remote monitoring system. This communicates down the mains and accross the mobile phone network to give the facility of access and emergency override in the case of any incidents or accidents.
